Lash extensions, aka semi permanent fake eyelashes, are single strands made of synthetic fiber, fine silk or real mink. These strands are individually attached to your natural lashes with a special type of lash glue, as close to the skin as possible without actually touching it, so allergic reactions are extremely uncommon, and you’re extensions look as real as possible.

When we started Honolulu Eyelash Extensions, we wanted to be different than other eyelash extension salons in Oahu.

ALEXANDRA CAIOLA – Master Stylist/Owner

Alexandra was born in Argentina and raised in Peru and Miami. During and after High School her focus was in Visual Arts. After completing her 3rd year in New World School of Arts she decided that she wanted to do something that was helpful to society and turned her focus to an area that had captured her curiosity, Alternative Health Care. Alexandra completed Massage and Acupuncture Degrees at Acupuncture and Massage College in 2000 and 2003 respectively. While studying Natural Health Care she got involved in Tai Chi and Yoga. She took 2 Yoga Teacher Trainings and taught for the next few years before opening her own wellness center, Qi Balance Wellness Center, neighboring her brother’s hair studio, Gustavo Briand Hair Studio.

Alexandra had envisioned this, a place where Natural and organic beauty services would also be offered, aside from Acupuncture, massage, reiki and private yoga classes. This led her to study Aesthetics and during this time she came across Xtreme Lashes and decided to take a course. It was love at first sight! And the first time she felt that all of her skills and gifts blended to shine to the same importance. About a year and a half later, Qi Balance Wellness Center became Sultry Eyes Lash Studio, the first Lash Studio in Miami and Miami Beach. The first place to focus on eye beauty and to enhance each individual’s own beauty. Alexandra is also an National Certified Xtreme Lashes Trainer, one out of 20 elite ladies.

TIMI PELLEGRINI – Top Stylist

Timi was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary. Fascinated with food and the art of cooking, at the young age of fourteen, she began studying at a Culinary school in Hungary. She came to the United States in 2004 and opened her own European deli here in South Beach, but she always had a passion for the beauty world. So, after five years of running her business, she finally decided to pursue a lash career in the beauty industry.

She first studied with Brite Spa Academy for her classic eyelash extensions training and certification and fell in love with the art of lashes. Excited to advance her skills in the lash industry, she went back to Budapest, Hungary to learn and be certified in volume lash application from Lash & Lashes. At Lash & Lashes, Timi was given the opportunity to learn from European Eyelash Champion, Katalin Kopacz. She came back to the United States and studied at Sunlashes to further her education in Russian volume lashes.

Timi is a wonderful addition to our Sultry Team. She is friendly and very passionate about her work at Sultry Eyes Lash Studio and in the beauty industry.

What exactly are eyelash extensions?

Honolulu Eyelash Extensions – So-called “1 by 1” eyelash extensions are high-quality, naturally treated minx fibers that are attached to each one of your natural lashes. They make them appear longer, fuller, and can be curled or beautified for longer (you won’t need to play around with a curler at a questionable public restroom in the middle of the night).

Eyelash extensions come in a variety of shades and thicknesses, which allows me to apply those that blend in the most with the natural beauty of your eyes – or even to experiment with bold looks and results.

How long will my eyelash extensions last in Hawaii?

Lash extensions are attached to your natural lashes, so a quality set applied by a professional should last as long as your natural lash cycle, and will fall out gradually as your natural lashes shed and re-grow. Depending on your lash cycle and lifestyle, professionally applied lash extensions can last up to 4 weeks. To keep their lashes on point, most clients prefer to have a re-fill within 2-3 weeks depending upon how quickly their natural lashes grow & aftercare.

What kind of lash glue do you use?

We use high-quality medical grade glue.

Do eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes at all?

When applied (and removed) correctly by a professional, there is no reason why eyelash extensions should shorten or damage your natural lash line. At Honolulu Eyelash Extensions, we take the care of your natural lashes very seriously. While an unprofessional lash tech may rush through your application process on auto-pilot, chatting away with her co-workers, thinking you won’t notice any damage anyway because it’s hard to see the damage until the false lashes come off – we operate with the belief that lash extensions are meant to ENHANCE your natural lashes, not replace them altogether. Eyelash extensions themselves will not damage your natural lashes, but a careless unprofessional very well.

Does it hurt to get eyelash extensions?

No. When done correctly by a professional & qualified lash technician, “getting lashed” is a very positive experience causing no pain or damage to your natural lashes.

How do I decide what style of lashes to get?

Lash extensions come in a variety of lengths, thickness and curl. Your lash tech will be able to help you decide what would look best for your style and eye shape, and we have photos of different styles for you to see. A full set will always look natural, it’s just a matter of how thick or natural you would like. We’ll match your personal style, whether you prefer subtle dowey eyed, or dramatic and sexy.

Do you use cluster lashes, like the kind you can buy at the store?

No. Lash extensions are applied individually one by one, while cluster lashes are several lashes fanning out from a bulb that is attached to your natural lash. Cluster lashes are too heavy for your natural lashes, and are often uncomfortable. Some lash salons use the cluster lashes to save time and cost, but it is much more comfortable and natural-looking when lash extensions are applied individually.

How are they different from the “glue-on” cluster lushes?

The main difference is that proper eyelash extensions are applied individually. Cluster eyelashes meant for you to apply at home usually come in one big line – which rarely ever matches the actual shape of your eyes. As a result, they tend to look slightly stiff or even plasticky. If you get up close to anyone, it will be very easy for them to see exactly what’s yours and what’s not!

Can I still use mascara and eye makeup?

The good news is you won’t need mascara or a lash curler, and we suggest that you don’t as it will shorten the life of your lashes. Makeup can still be worn if desired, but use water-based products. Oil based products break down the glue and shorten your extensions life.

Can I get bottom lash extensions?

We don’t recommend getting eyelash extensions applied to your lower lashes for everyday use, because the upper and lower lashes will get tangled up together. It isn’t fun or pretty like you imagine. Lash extensions on the bottom lashes can be great for photoshoots, so if there is an event you’d like to prepare for we can simply remove the lower lash extensions after the event.

Tell me about eyelash extensions aftercare, I know nothing!

lash extension aftercare is really quite simple and can be summed up with: just be gentle. Avoid sleeping right on them, applying oil products to the lashes, and getting them wet within the first 24 hours. Other than that, just be gentle and make sure to comb through your lashes daily. Your lashes are 100% waterproof after the first day and the glue is set.

How to Care For Your New Lashes:

Eyelash extensions are pretty low maintenance. However, if you want to get the best possible results in Honolulu weather, keep the following in mind:
• Keep them dry for 2 hours immediately after applying them
• Try not to rub your eyes too much when washing your face
• Avoid oil-based mascara or eyeliner
• Invest in a good eyelash comb

How long will it take?

A full set typically takes 2 hours. A re-lash usually takes 1 hour to 90 minutes. We take our time with each client to get every pair of lashes to perfection.

How do I schedule? What should I expect during or after the appointment?

I like to take my time with each client here in Honolulu, whether they’re residents or visitors, especially during an initial consultation. This is why an eyelash extension appointment usually takes one hour to 90 minutes.

If it’s your first visit, prepare for it to last up to two hours: I like to get to know my customers properly and take a look at what I will be doing exactly. When you spend as long as I do dealing with eyelashes, you learn that no two sets are the same. I will have to examine the shape of your eyes, the thickness, and the curvature of your natural eyelashes in order to give you the best-looking extensions. After we have decided on a size and shade, just lie down and relax!
Properly done extensions don’t feel heavy and won’t slow down the eyelids the way mascara does. You won’t feel any irritation, pain, or discomfort after the appointment. You should be ready to face the day or your special event here on Oahu.

Make sure to let me know if you have a photo shoot, a special event, or if you have had bad experiences with eyelashes extensions before. I can work with all types of lashes – sparse, short, or curly, you name it. Just come for the consultation, and I will work out a solution for you.

About that gentle removal – how gentle are they on my eyes?

When properly applied, eyelash extensions are actually safer and gentler on your eyelids and lashes than standard one-night lashes or even than mascara. They are especially suited for contact lens wearers, who always need to be extra careful to avoid ruining their lenses with smudged mascara. In addition, as they don’t require daily rubbing or cream application, they will actually give your lashes a break from the stress of daily makeup.

Microblading

What is Microblading?

Microblading is the latest in the beauty industry. It gives you amazing brows long term. Imagine you wake up with perfect brows EVERYDAY!!! Yes! We have been trained with the best company in the market, PhiBrows. Our Stylist is a certified PhiBrows Artist.

Why is microblading different than regular PMU?

Microblading is in the family of permanent makeup. It is the process of drawing brows “hair by hair” with ink, specially formulated for microblading eyebrows and a tool that looks like a scalpel but instead is made up of many very small needles. Microblading is not done with a machine.

This procedure, however, is not as permanent as regular permanent makeup, it only lasts about 18 to 24 months. This is because microblading is done at a more superficial level than that of a regular tattoo or a regular permanent makeup procedure. The skin is composed of 3 layers, the Epidermis, the Dermis and the Subcutis. While a regular PMU procedure and a body tattoo is done on the deepest layer, microblading is done on the top, most superficial layer. Making it a semi-permanent “tattoo”.

Why do I need a touch up?

Any tattoo process needs a touch up 4 weeks later. In 4 weeks the ink has “settled” and healed and sometimes in some spots the ink will disappear. The skin treats the tattoo as a trauma so it tries to push the ink out as it heals. This is normal. In 4 weeks we see the final result and we can reapply where needed.

How do I take care of my brows after the procedure?

Please for the next 10 days avoid:

– Sun Exposure
– Going swimming or diving
– Makeup on and around your brows
– Scratching your brows while they are healing

Dry skin after care:

If you have Dry skin the best option is to use Vaseline. Every 3 hours wash the area with soap and water and re-apply a thin layer of Vaseline for about 7-10 days until you see the area is healed.

Oily skin after care:

If you have Oily skin then we will put after care product that you will leave for 24 hrs. After the 24 hrs you will remove it with warm water and let it “dry heal”, meaning don’t do anything to it.

Does it hurt?

It is a tattoo, so it feels like a tattoo. If you haven’t had a tattoo then it feels like hair removal.

Are the blades disposable?

Our blades are 100% disposable avoiding any type of cross contamination.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

Make sure that 24 hrs before you AVOID:
– Sun
– Any alcohol
– Any medicine or herbs that make your blood thinner

How do I know if I am a good candidate for microblading?

If you have any of the following health conditions then you are not be eligible for microblading to avoid any complications while healing.
– Diabetes
– Hemophilia
– Pregnant
– Are taking any blood thinning medications
– Keloid scars
– Any problems that don’t allow you to heal normally

Scalp Micropigmentation

What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Some will refer to it as a Hair Tattoo or Medical Hairline Tattooing or Hair Simulation or Follicle Replication. In the end, it’s simply the art of creating the illusion of real hair follicles. Similar to microblading, it is done by hand.

Most practitioners have been trained to use one type of needle when performing scalp micropigmentation. Not our artists! We are trained to use different types of needles (single micro and three-point) in order to achieve optimal results. Aside from the hairline, our artists also pay very close attention to key factors such as blending, matching, feathering, density-building, texturing, scar concealment, etc., in order to produce undetectable natural results. It is simply the most realistic, non-invasive, cost-efficient hair loss treatment out there. If done correctly it is seamless, undetectable and, in many cases, unbelievable!

Why do I need a touch up?

How do I take care of my scalp after the procedure?

Please for the next 10 days avoid:
– Sun Exposure
– Going swimming or diving
– Makeup on and around your scalp
– Scratching your scalp while it is healing

Scalp micropigmentation is non-invasive and requires no down time. In most cases, you will not need to take any extended time away from work, school, or other functions. After treatment it is common to notice slight redness on the scalp for 2-3 days post session. This redness subsides quickly and most clients return to work either right away or within a couple days. Clients are also allowed to wear hats or headwear should they feel the need.

How long do the results last?

After completion of your treatment (3-4 sessions) a client should expect the strength of the color to last for many years. Over a longer term, a client will very gradually begin to notice slight lightening (not discolor) of the treatment. When this occurs they can undergo a brief “touch up” session to restore any fading and secure many more years of their style.

Does it hurt?

For most clients, the pain is minimal and it’s consistently less painful than traditional tattoos. After your session, you won’t experience any further discomfort.
